How to Choose Your First Lace Closure
My Wife's Wigs Team·6 June 2026
What is a lace closure?
A lace closure is a hairpiece that covers the top of your head, creating a natural-looking parting. It's sewn or glued onto a wig cap or directly onto your braided hair.
Lace types
- HD Lace: Ultra-thin, melts into any skin tone. Best for a seamless, invisible look.
- Transparent Lace: Slightly thicker than HD but still blends well on lighter skin tones.
- Regular Lace: Most affordable, but may need tinting to match your skin.
Closure sizes
| Size | Best for | |------|----------| | 4×4 | Small parting, everyday wear | | 5×5 | Slightly wider part, more styling options | | 6×6 | Deep part, can style middle or side | | 7×7 | Maximum coverage, most versatile |
Our recommendation for beginners
Start with a 5×5 HD lace closure. It gives you enough parting space without being overwhelming, and HD lace is forgiving for first-time installs.
All our closures come pre-plucked with baby hair — no extra work needed.
